Hotel Du Vieux Saule

The convenience of modernity combines with the magic of history in this comfortable, convenient, and charming hotel located in one of the oldest parts of the Marais : the Temple district. Le Vieux Saule means « The Old Willow Tree ». A willow tree actually existed where the hotel now stands, and it was under this famous tree that Queen Marie Antoinette often sat and pondered. With bright renovated rooms, a delightful breakfast buffet served in a 16th century vaulted celler, a free sauna for hotel guests as well as their friends, and an attentive and welcoming staff, the Vieux Saule will make your stay unforgettable. The hotel is located near four metro stations and several bus stops. It is also only a short walk from the Pompidou Center, Hôtel de Ville, Notre Dame, the Bastille Opera, and Place des Vosges, not to mention the Carnavalet, Picasso, and Arts et Métiers museums. Hundreds of fantastic restaurants and shopping possibilities abound just near Le Vieux Saule as well.

I recently stayed in the Hotel du Vieux Saule while attending a writing conference in the Marais. It is a quiet hotel, just off the rue de Bretagne. Jamil, the concierge at the front desk,is so hospitable, kind, and helpful. I appreciate his wonderful presence when I enter or leave the hotel. He has helped me with directions and other enquiries. I thank him so much!

I regularly come through Paris and have stayed in many establishments, so I have seen enough to say that the Vieux Saule offers a pleasant stay. I come here often because I love the Marais area but especially because of the great discount offered by, where the last night is half off. For someone who knows Paris well enough and is looking for a more domestic experience, staying in the Marais is a good choice. I feel like a local when I stay here and enjoy the isolation from the touristy crowd.
