DES GARS DANS LA CUISINE … Bistronomic, gourmaniac, delifantastic! There are not enough newly-invented words to describe this intimate setting with its refined décor and its inventive menu which features modern takes on the great French classics infused with inspiration from all corners of the globe. Currently of note on the new  menu: STARTERS Pan-fried wild mushrooms and black garlic cream €16.00, octopus snack in sauce vierge with citrus €14.00, MAINS - Crumbed wild boar fillet, with pear and parsnip purée and cacao sauce, 28 €. Roast cod with za’atar, served with chickpea purée and olive oil 24 €. DESSERTS – Carambar crème brûlée, vanilla slice with lemon, lime and crunchy bits. NEW autumn pavlova (soft chocolate meringue, whipped cream with fromage blanc, mango and blackcurrant coulis, praline and lime zest with chestnut crumbs) which is the must-have dessert of the house.

Not too much damage in the bill department; evenings, you can dine à la carte for around €50/70, which is more than reasonable given the quality of the food. You could well lose your heart to this restaurant as you will more than likely fall under the spell of the enchanting smiles of the waiters and the wicked humour of the two owners, Jean-Jacques Delaval, who is the double of actor Daniel Craig and Gil Rosinha, the chef. At lunchtime, the fixed-price menu appetiser/main course or main course/dessert is around 20€ The Sunday brunch is more than copious. High-class wines at reasonable prices. Reservation is a must if you want to have a table at the most chic and fun restaurant in Le Marais, even during weeknights. Open Tuesday to Sunday.
