NETWORKING FOR LE MARAIS

Our team is just back from a fabulous week in Berlin, rediscovering this booming city that makes all others green with envy by its liveliness and creativity. 100,000 French citizens already live in Berlin, having fled the too-expensive square meters and oppressive red tape that prevent the freedom to really party in the heart of Paris.

No one is a prophet in his own country, as we verified yet again. We were greeted like ambassadors by the mayor of Berlin, the mayor of Antwerp, and tourist offices from around the world. Each time, we were received with honor, courtesy and enchantment. We were hosted at the IGLTA stand by Clark Massad, the IGLTA European ambassador, and Benoît Breton, ambassador and director of the boutique hotel 20 Prieuré***, now also part of the parismarais® hotel network.

Thanks to our experience and international culture, we knew how to put aside our innate critical sense in order to enjoy the positive vibe of this Europe that so admires and acknowledges the French capital. We were happy to make contact with so many eager participants, promoting Paris as a tolerant, open, and multicultural destination. That which the Paris City Hall does not do yet, for lack of means, or political will, and ignorance in marketing, the private tourism sector and volunteers do very well, thankfully. We returned home, pleased to have contributed to creating a positive and friendly image of our city, as well as with the business cards of more than 500 future new friends and contacts in the world of tourism and culture. A warm thank you to the City of Berlin and to the IGLTA, who did an incredible job of networking.

Here are some great pictures of our Berlin adventure and ITB, followed by the latest news from Le Marais. Even if we loved Berlin, still, nothing compares to Paris and nothing compares to the Marais.

A Bientôt,
Pascal Fonquernie Editor, Parismarais.com

Salento

Very close to the Pompidou Centre, the restaurant Salento welcomes you warmly and invites you to discover a generous, authentic Italian cuisine with a wonderful selection of fresh pasta, small «aumônières» (different, delicious fillings wrapped in thin pastry) or rigatoni that will transport you to Puglia and its surrounding regions. A good selection of antipasti (10 to 18 euros), including the Burrata Pugliese & Prosciutto di Parma or the excellent Green Cabbage Rolls with chestnuts, speck (cured ham) and cream of parmesan (12 euros) will whet your appetite before continuing, according to Italian tradition, to a first course (primo) and / or a second course (secondo). The ricotta gnudi dumplings (13 euros) or those with mushrooms and eggplant (15 euros) are absolute «musts» to try. The wine list also offers a nice selection such as a Monte Pulciano d'Abruzzo (32 euros) or a Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio (40 euros). A taste of Dolce Vita in the Marais ...
