  • Cher Paris-Marais,
On ADORE PARIS MARAIS.
Bien le bonjour de Perth, Australie. Francine
  • Pascal... Thanks for giving us a hand with things when we were in Paris- we had a great time again. The more we visit the better it gets! I think staying in a flat really helps connect you with a city more than staying in a hotel does. The Marais is a very interesting area to connect with.

  • As an American and former carte se jour worker in Paris, I really value the quality of your newsletter. Nice info and the photos are clear and match your writings. Thanks again for keeping me in touch with an area that is very near to my heart.

  • Cher Pascal,
It's only been 2 days and I am already missing your lovely city.
I purchased a couple of croissants from a high-end gourmet supermarket here and they tasted like week limp bread compared to the flakey, crispy real French croissants.....ah....lucky you! Just an everyday item pour vous.
We had such a lovely time in Paris and thoroughly enjoyed the Medieval Apartment in Marais. It welcomed us each evening with it's rich and cozy decor and we could relax in comfort knowing that we could put on the tea kettle or take out a dish to saute. Everything we might need was carefully tucked away on a shelf or in a drawer. As two women travelling alone we felt very safe in our secured building.
I want to thank you in particular for the time you spent helping us get oriented to the apartment and the neighborhood. Your sightseeing and shopping and dining suggestions were very accurate and knowledgeable. I fear you have set the standards very high should we ever need to rent from another agency. We will always come back to rent from you if the opportunity is available.
Thank you so much for your kindness.

  • Hi Pascal, it's the first time i get to write to you, even though i have been reading your newsletter for almost a year. So, would love to use the chance to say, it always is absolutely enjoyable, positive, informative and really good fun! Many many thanks! Being Russian, I feel particularly excited about being able to get more news on le Marais in different languages, and notably in Russian. So, if you are looking for more people to translate or write articles about Paris and the Marais in Russian, I would be happy to be added to the list of contributors. I am living in the Marais, am in full-time employment but would be happy to contribute in my spare time. Thanks for the great newsletter again. Have a nice day!

Bravo!

  • When we were in Paris last year we stayed in Hotel du Petit Moulin and ABSOLUTELY loved it!! We will be staying there again in May this year. We also had dinner at L'Ambassade last year, and that is truly a little gem! We will definitely make sure to return - what a superb mashed potato and great service!
    Thanks to ParisMarais.com!

  • Thanks for the informative newsletter. I just returned to New York from Paris last week and I miss it already. It was through your web site and newsletter that I decided to stay in Le Marais at the Hotel des Archives which our family enjoyed immensely. I also read with interest in this newsletter that there was a successful effort to "save" Hotel Dieu. Please know that I had a medical emergency while in Paris and was hospitalized overnight there due to the quick thinking of both my family and the hotel staff. I was given excellent care in the hospital and have only the best to say regarding the hospital staff and the French health care system

  • Pascal, I just want to tell you how much I enjoy reading your newsletter. My dream is to someday own my own apartment in Paris, so until then I can only life vicariously through newsletters such as yours and Adrian Leeds. Today's installment was very informative as I've often wondered about the difference between Bertrand Delanoe and the other Mayors of Paris. Now I get it. Again, thank you for all the time you put into your newsletter. It makes my day!

  • Dear Pascal and the Parismarais group,
Your monthly emails delight me to no end. Once a month I get a little bon-bon in my email that whisks me away to my favorite city in the world. I really enjoyed the lesson in Parisian politics. This is why I love Parismarais so much, you give me the local view of Paris, not the slick touristy stuff.
You are taking over Europe and I think it's fantastic. I can't wait to hear more about your new plans!
I cannot travel right now, but when that changes (soon I hope) I will be booking through Parismarais(...)

  • Hello Mr. Fonquernie,
I just wanted to thank you for keeping this newsletter going. I am an American who has been living and working in Nouakchott, Mauritania for seven years now. I have loved le Marais since I first discovered it in the mid-90's when I was on vacation in Paris while serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer working in the Central African Republic.
Thankfully, I am able to visit Paris on a regular basis and I always check your newsletter to see what is going on in my home away from home.
    Best Regards --- John

  • Thanks so much for a delightful year of reading the newsletters. They are always inspiring and informative. You make Marais sound like the most wonderful neighbourhood in the world! I referred the url to my friend prior to his visit and he thanked me profusely, saying it had been a great reference for his time there. I too will make the sacred journey to Marais later in 2008 and now I'm moist with anticipation!

  • Thank you so much to the team for these beautiful photos! What a lovely treat to open up on a dreary day back to work. And thank you for your excellent newletter--I went to the Marais for the first time this September, using a fair amount of your excellent information, and will make it my base from now on in Paris. You bring the district to life!
All the best in the New Year. Kind regards,
    Michelle Garrigan, USA

  • Before time and the demands of our work take us too far from Paris, Barry and I wanted to take a moment and thank you. Your flat was most comfortable. Due in no small part to the manner in which you made us feel welcomed and were available to begin to orient us to the area, we felt as though it were our home for those nine days.
It was a very rich experience. I have no doubt we will return and will certainly recommend you and ParisMarais to anyone traveling to France.
    Sincerely
Rosalyn and Barry Bertram, Kansas City MO, USA

  • I am a resident of Australia and have just spent 3 hours with various parts of your website. My husband and I will be in France for 6 weeks soon and I found the info on the Marais and the chateau accommodation to be among the best I have ever seen.
I also found all the info on renting apartments in the Marais and other areas to be excellent.
    Congratulations on a superb website.

  • The apartments at Parismarais are the ideal place to get a taste of Parisianlife. Le petit studio Florentin was perfect for our budget and our needs - everycomfort tucked into a bright, cheery and beautifully appointed Parisian apartment, very quiet and private with thoughtful attention to details, provided by a mosthelpful host. The Marais is a delightful neighborhood, with great restaurants, cafes, a produce market, a lovely park, net cafe, post office and ATMs all withina block or two. It is multicultural by day - Jewish and gay streets back toback, surrounded by artful craft and fashion studios- and multi-colorful bynight. Beyond the Marais, of course, are all the joys of Paris.

  • We spent a very niceweek in Paris in October 2002. The Florentin apartment we were staying in wasvery nice, cosy and calm, in the charming historical district of Marais. It'svery pleasant to stay so close to the centre and to enjoy a totally calm apartment. This was the first time we rented an apartment to stay for vacation, and I mustsay it was a very good idea. We felt much better than in a hotel, and it waseven more comfortable. We hope to come back again soon.

  • We had a wonderful stayin Paris- the best ever. The Burgundy apartment was cozy, spotless and quiet. It offered us wonderful amenities. The neighborhood gives you a great feel forthe non-tourist side of Paris. Wonderful for walking, sitting at a sidewalkcafe and shopping. Convenient to the Metro and sight-seeing. • I'm happy to rave aboutyour accommodations! Here are some of the things I found so delightful: a trulycomfortable bed, lovely dishes to use, modern, clean kitchen appliances anda wonderful bathroom with lots of hot water, interesting, tasteful artwork andfurniture, good music… Also, I loved the area. It was such a pleasureto walk and discover the diverse charm of sophisticated shops and outdoor markets,to discover areas that seemed unchanged over the years and other areas thatwere up to the minute with fashion, art and music. Being really close to twounderground lines was a bonus.

  • What a superb edition of your newsletter. Your video is excellent and brings back many memories of the Marais. The pictures of the fire brigade celebration were fascinating as were the details of the Templars in Paris. I had not come across Thirza Vallois before. As a shall be in the Aveyron next year her book will be essential.
    Many thanks.
