Le Marais is famous for its numerous “café theatres.” Basically, a café theatre is neither one or the other, but generally a small place with about 100 seats and a small stage where you can enjoy a play for a cheap price. Many famous actors have started their careers on these stages. They are fun, you don’t need to book in advance, and can enjoy many humorous shows-- if you can at least speak some basic French. Le Marais is such a small district and space so rare and expensive, you won’t find big theatres and cinemas here. You should at least try to experience these unique little stages. Who knows, you may meet actors today who will be the super stars in the next years. Then you’ll be able to say, “I was there at the beginning!”
